Our luggage was all down outside the lobby by 7:30 AM. After luggage went to Ralston's home, we all went shopping. This shopping included the SM mall and a shop called Artevelman, which showcased typical native Filipino crafts and we got a 70% discount! Pastor Brian was dropped off at the doctor's office to check out some bites on his ankle/foot and get antibiotic.
We went sight seeing. Apparently several islands claim the right to "the place" Magellan first landed!! We saw a park on the island of Mactan with a statue of the chieftain Lapu-Lapu who killed Magellan. The "truth" of the issue is that two tribes were fighting and Magellan took sides--he should have kept his nose out of their business--as Chris explained. Apparently someone claims direct lineage to Lapu-Lapu who killed Magellan.
Mactan is joined to Cebu Island by two bridges. The international airport is on the island.
We met up with Brent and Hannah (they arrived at the restaurant by motorcycle) for an leisurely evening meal--all typical Filipino foods that we shared family style.
Back at the Ralston's, the team organized their packing. Brian had room in his suitcase for me to send a paper sack full of souvenirs and things I knew I didn't need to take with me. We spent time in debriefing our time as a team in ministry. Especially since Brent has several teams coming in next few months, we needed to examine all the aspects of building, heat, use of time, access to materials, etc.
The team took off to the airport about 10:30 PM. I took a shower and went to bed, but didn't really sleep.
