Donna hand delivering some home made fudge sent by another Donna for  Brent and Christine.

Brent picked us up at Lylie  Hotel and took us to his home.   There we got to meet the sisters, Dan from Stanfield, Oregon! and of course Brent's wife Chris, and their daughter Hannah.  In our orientation  I was struck with the love and passion Brent ( and Christine) have for the people  of the Philippines.             Chris and her helper had a delicious meal for us.

already we are learning to drink a lot of water!

Mandaue City  is one of the three highly-urbanized cities on the island and forms a part of the Cebu Metropolitan area.  The city has an area of 2,518 hectares (6,220 acres) with a total population of 331,320 people as of the 2010 census.               Schools in Mandaue City follow a system of 6 years for primary education and 4 years for secondary education.

Some interesting facts:   Cebu City  is the "Queen  City" of the south and the regional center of commercial and intellectual activity.  Cebu  City is the capital of Cebu province, whose soil is not good for farming, but perfect for industrial development.   Cebu is the 2nd most significant metropolitan center in the Philippines and oldest settlement established by the Spaniards.  It is also the main domestic shipping port and 2nd largest airport for international flights.     The airport is actually on Mactan Island connected to Cebu Island by two bridges, which can seen in the map above.

Go up to Bogo City tomorrow.
