Then came

Then came:   the earthquake occurred on October 15, 2013, at 8:12 a.m. (PST) in Bohol, an island province located in Central Visayas, Philippines. The magnitude of the earthquake at the epicenter was recorded at  7.2.    It affected the whole Central Visayas region, particularly Bohol Island and Cebu Island.      The quake killed at least 222 people, injured nearly 1,000 and displaced about 350,000, according to authorities.

While I was in Manila, I met a woman from Bohol.  She and her husband have a resort there.   She mentioned that the island was still experiencing 3.0 magnitude aftershocks!!

Then came:   With 25 million people in its path, Super Typhoon Haiyan   (Yolanda )-- one of the strongest storms recorded on the planet -- smashed into the Philippines on Friday morning, November 8, 2013.       Bogo City Mayor Celestino Martinez Jr. told the Philippine Sun-Star that the typhoon “destroyed everything we have here, from infrastructure to agriculture.”  Bogo CIty is on the NE end of Cebu Island.

Bogo City is located in the northeastern coast of  Cebu province, on the island of Cebu.    As of November 2013, Bogo City has a population of 82, 327 and 18, 295 households.

Yoland or Haiyan, badly hit northern Cebu, which not spared from devastation.     We as a team have pictures of the damaged main bus terminal that we came into from Cebu City and left from to return to Cebu City.

We got to work alongside  Grace Driven Church, which is located in Poblacion or the city center of  Bogo City.
